Arturo Gómez has painstakingly researched where some of the scenes in Car 54 was filmed. He has taken snapshots of what those said scenes would look like today.  Let's compare.
  1. Home Sweet Sing Sing -- 1961 -- with the great Gene Baylos. Here's Bennie the Bookie crossing Tremont Ave at Mapes in my neighborhood of East Tremont, the Bronx. The same view looking west on Tremont nowadays.

  1. Here's the Biograph Studios of the Bronx where Car 54 was filmed as well as many other TV shows and movies. This is the entrance from the E 175th St side. It served as the precinct for Car 54.

  1. This is 176th St and Prospect in the Bronx, around the corner of the Biograph Studios. In the back ground is my JHS, PS 44. To the right of the photo is the Cross Bronx Expwy as seen in the other photo. The back of JHS 44 abutted with the Biograph.

  1. Pretzel Mary -- The scenes of Pretzel Mary selling her goods in the park took place in Crotona Park, next door to the Biograph Studios where the series was filmed. The park had a fabulous pool, a lake, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and so much more.

  1. The boys are pulling up to the front of the fictional 53rd precinct which is the Biograph Studios on E 175th St in the East Tremont area of the Bronx. The 2nd photo is the same spot nowadays, the studios burned down around 1970 and in the 1980s a sanitation dept offices depot, and truck garage was built on the site.

  1. This closing credit intersection is Southern Blvd just south of Tremont Ave. The northwest corner was a fantastic donut shop, above it was a bowling alley. Adjacent to the candy store on the southwest corner was the Fu Man Chu Chinese restaurant. Just past the donut shop was the A & P supermarket my mom shopped at. Across Southern Bl to the east of the A & P was a school, PS 67.

  2. Sadly in the mid 1980s the A & P became the Happy Land night club that was the sight of a ghastly arson that killed nearly 100 persons in 1990. Now, directly across from the site of the tragedy is a memorial to the perished.
